If President Barack Obama wins another term in November, the healthcare, scientific research, alternative energy, and housing sectors of the stock market should thrive, and so should exporters to China, according to CNNMoney.

The healthcare reform law championed by Obama would particularly help major hospital owners. That’s because Obamacare means hospitals will assist fewer patients who can't pay, Kevin Campbell, an analyst at Avondale Partners, tells CNNMoney.

On the scientific research front, Democrats traditionally are more generous when it comes to funding for research organizations like the National Institute of Health.

As for alternative energy, that has been a top priority for Obama so far. He will undoubtedly extend renewable tax breaks, such as the wind production tax credit.

When it comes to housing, Obama will certainly continue his efforts to boost the market, such as the Home Affordable Modification Program and the Home Affordable Refinance Program.

On the issue of trade with China, Obama is taking a hard line now to match his opponent Mitt Romney’s harsh rhetoric. But if he is returned to office, Obama will likely move back to a stance of cooperation.

CNNMoney forecasts that a Romney victory would assist medical device, defense, telecom, financial services, and transportation stocks.

In the end, though, the Federal Reserve may have much more influence over stocks than the president. For example, its policy of near-zero interest rates has sent dividend stocks soaring.
