Steve Forbes, chairman of Forbes Media, has advice for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney concerning Democratic demands for him to release more tax returns.
“He should do 'reverse the tables' and say 'Let’s have a data dump,'” Forbes, a former presidential candidate himself, told Yahoo.
The idea is that Romney would release 20 years of tax returns, and Obama would do the same. They’d both release their school and healthcare records too. That would provide the perfect answer for questions about Romney’s tax payments and Obama’s academic performance, Forbes said.

“Have that all in there, let people chew on it, and then come Labor Day, we’ll get to real issues,” he said.
Democrats have charged that the wealthy Romney is out of touch with average Americans.
But “people want a president. They’re not looking for Oprah or a chum to go to the coffee shop,” said Forbes, a man of substantial riches himself.
“People want to know do you have the capabilities and, more importantly, the principles and policies to move the country forward.”
Whether Romney gets a chance to try his policies may depend on the stock market.
In the 28 presidential elections since 1900, when the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose in the three months ahead of the election, the incumbent won 80 percent of the time, according to S&P Capital IQ data.
When the market fell, the incumbent lost 88 percent of the time.
