Toyota and government investigators are in Westchester County north of New York City inspecting a wrecked 2005 Prius.

Capt. Anthony Marraccini said about 10 people from Toyota and two from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration were at Harrison police headquarters on Wednesday.

Among other things, Toyota will try to determine how many times the driver hit the brakes and gas. Earlier this week, the automaker cast doubt on a California driver who claimed his Prius sped out of control.

In New York, authorities have found no indication of driver error. A housekeeper said the car sped up as she eased forward down her employer's driveway on March 9 and hit a stone wall.

Toyota recalled more than 8 million cars because their gas pedals could become stuck or be snagged by floor mats.
