It was just three weeks ago when I wrote to you about the possible fall of the Russian ruble. At that point, I had thought about a possible aggressive move from Russia if the Ukraine situation got out of hand, but I didn't expected to see it really playing out.

I have reconsidered my recent missive on Russia. Back on Jan. 22, I wrote to you about Russia presenting a great investment opportunity this year. I am still committed to the macro story, but recent events have made me consider a reverse position for a short-term trade.

Stock markets slid in January, but are now free falling in February. We may see a few reversals, but in general the markets are primed to decline.

Russia is a feared country to do business in. Just recently, news of a possible terrorist strike in Sochi, where the winter Olympics will be held in a few weeks, has the U.S. government parking planes and other assets around Russia in case of a crisis.

America claims it was built on the pillars of capitalism. During the cold war era, the opposition to communism grew and even runs pretty strong even now. Socialism is but just a weak version of communism and has many of its core philosophies based in communism.
