U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said on Wednesday he felt there was an opportunity now to reach an agreement with Congress for an overhaul of the corporate tax system.

"We think there's a reasonable chance of having people come together" on a plan that would lower rates and be revenue-neutral, he said in response to questions at a U.S. House of Representatives appropriations subcommittee.

"I think it's worth taking a run at it," he said, adding that he has been talking with lawmakers to sound them about about the possibility.
