Sirius XM Radio Inc. said Wednesday it added 583,249 net subscribers in the second quarter, and expects to add a total of 1.1 million this year.
In the second quarter of 2009, the company lost 185,999 subscribers. Last year, weak auto sales and the economic downturn hit Sirius early in the year and the company reported its first-ever quarterly decline in net subscriber additions.
Its business has since stabilized and Sirius said it now has 19.5 million subscribers, a record high.
